Each
Spring the Huntsville-Madison County Auburn Club provides freshman
scholarships to deserving Madison
County students attending Auburn University. The award is based
on academic excellence, community leadership, and financial need, and
demonstration of the “Auburn Spirit". Additional details are
provided with the scholarship application.
Unlike
most Auburn clubs, your club is one of
the few that selects its own scholarship recipients instead of having
the university make the selection. This approach ensures that our
efforts benefit local students. To continue to meet our
scholarship goals, we need each of more than 6,000 Auburn alumni and
countless supporters and friends of Auburn
living in Madison
County to join
the HMCAC and participate in our club’s activities. Proceeds from
membership dues, events, and the HMCAC “500 Club” all
benefit our scholarship efforts.
For
2007 we awarded 4 scholarships to attend Auburn. After interviewing the
top candidates, the scholarship committee selected the following
recipients for the Laura E.
Hanks Memorial Scholarship: Shavion Graham
(Johnson
High),
Anna Lane (Grissom), Logan Matthews
(Grissom), and Stephanie Mattox
(Grissom)
Congratulations
!
Note
from 2004 scholarship recipient Marcus Coleman:
WAR EAGLE!!!!
I just wanted to say hello to everyone of the HMCAC.
Presently, I am a junior in Chemical Engineering. I'm concluding
my second co-op semester with Southern Company's Farley Nuclear Plant
in Southern Alabama. I'm doing
great things here at Auburn, and I would
like to say thanks for everything that you all are doing for Huntsville and the
surrounding areas. I can't express enough the appreciation for
the great things you're doing for high school students. Keep up
the good work!
